The energy and movement of the canals of Amsterdam inspired the playful integration of cat friendly design throughout the space. The household’s love of cats and desire to give their pets a fun and interactive interior environment creates a colorful home filled with unique architectural details. The retail space below mimics the interactive elements seen in the upper floors while providing an atmosphere that would amuse any cat owner. Taking elements of a traditional pre-war brownstone and merging them with the clients’ love of modern Dutch architecture creates a home with a sophisticated juxtaposition of old and new. The couple’s desire to create a space that is healthy for animals and the environment, lead to the selection of sustainable and eco-friendly materials throughout.
